MSC Bikes

Phil Vega - Saturday, September 05, 2009
It only makes sense the first blog post should shed a little light about MSC Bikes and the new U.S. distribution, so here's a little bit of perspective.
MSC Bikes originated in a small town in Spain called Gava.  Located just outside of Barcelona, Gava is minutes away from the Mediterranean Sea to the East, and a short jaunt West takes you into the Pyrenees Mountains.   Basically, it's prime location for a bike company.  As a bonus, there's a network of trails that are just a 15 minute ride from the warehouse.  The ride I did featured a one hour climb that varied from fire road, pavement, and singletrack.  The climb let to an epic view of the Catalonia region.  The descent was roughly 20 minutes long and it snaked down steep, skinny singletrack that varied from loose baby heads, to large boulders that didn't move.  The earth changed from brown to red to white, and the traction varied with it.  It was the best bike company office ride I've been on by far!  It's definitely a great test for any bike and a good indicator of why MSC bikes ride so well.

For a such a young company (ten years old), MSC has deep roots in Spanish Cycling, and Word Cup Racing.  Lluis Marias, has served as a consultant for  the UCI, and his son, Ferran Marias, is a veteran World Cup Down Hill racer.  This too explains why they know how to design and build such great bikes.  The company began using the World Cup circuit as a testing ground for their bikes, and components, and they'd cataloged hours of valuable feedback from many great racers.  They continue this practice today.

This is just a small glimpse at this great young company, but expect to be well acquainted in the near future.  We (MSC Bikes USA) are extremely excited to be the first to bring MSC Bikes to the States.  The products stand amongst the world's best, they are backed up by an industry leading warranty, and they are only getting better in 2010.   Expect to see the new product rolling out very soon!
